These are some scenes from my weekend walks and attending mass at the Catholic church.
Ravens on roof of Anglican church
were constantly fighting for the highest spot.
The cemetery
and crosses shown here outside RC church but in middle of the hamlet.
Sunday morning mass was conducted by one of the elders
because the regular priest was stuck in Churchill due to weather. It was all in Inuktitut ....but when I was in Rankin I was given a hymnal in both languages which will be helpful in future services...but even if one does not understand the language just to be there is special and at one point to hear some antiphonal singing between the men and women. The lecturne was modelled from a wooden sled or kamootik
Stained glass from inside reflected both the sun and snow from the minus 32oC day.
Back panels in Repulse RC church.

Health Care Worker's Prayer
This was given one morning last week as we had our morning meeting at
the health center and I think one can apply it to many different
professions where we are in helping roles, so may this be a beginning
to your week...Please God, help us to use the power within us
to help those in need today
help us to stay focussed on why we're here
during this patient's stayThe day is long and demands grow stronger
Our aching feet tell us the miles on our legs have grown longer
We must remeber to help and heal
The children of God
As part of his willIf instead of praise we hear criticism
let us focus on Christ and all he has given

My recent posts..
About me...
An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
