large fluffly flakes overnight about 4 cms
so I decided before all melted to get out in the ravine with my x-c skis
but with the challenge of bringing both dogs. Not unexpectedly the dogs are settling down with each other and fewer disputes. Dysis still grabs the odd toy but has accepted her presence in an aloof way. In the ravine they run together, Dysis chasing squirrels and Nanuq following to a certain point and then retreating. They actually have had moments of play-where Dysis on a mad run and the pup crouching and springing up. The leash-free area has been good for the pup in terms of socializing but the best play is always with another puppy like the chocolate lab we saw today. Nanuq is chewing everything and jumping up...and we often have tug of wars with the knotted rope
or any other object including towels for wiping feet or a snatched glove
...somehow lost the copy of the rabies vacinnation so had to get it faxed via RCMP i Arviat.

About me...
An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
