  • Summer clothing in the north

Just in the last few days I have been aware that is is getting warmer and do not need to dress in as many layers as peviously. Within the last two weeks I have been wearing long pants, a shirt, sweater and  wind or gortex jacket, often a hoodie and as well toque and gloves. Brought my bikng gloves with the fingers free which is great for both biking to work, dog walking and using the camera....of course the proverbial sunglasses with long days. On rainy windy days still can be quite bitingly cold. However it is get warmer and was 10oC when I went walking this morning at 6:45 AM and on the weekend with Canada Day celebrations up to about 15oC. The mosquitos are defintely out and Nanuq will soon learn that they are not toys for her to catch, as Dysis just shakes her head to rid them from her muzzle. This mornings out fit is a short sleeved T shirt and the bug jacket!

About me...

An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
