  • Week in review....

This past week has been incredibly busy and I cannot believe March is already here. Will not comment much about work except that in the two weeks that I have been in my office in the clinic I have sent 190 emails and received 275!

Friday night invited to a potluck dinner with the other RNs and a very active little Schitzoo called Gjoa who was attracted to my mukluks. The NIC had some lovely wall hangings.

The days are lenghtening quickly with light on both ends of the  8:30-5 PM work day, continuing at -30oC but the sun is up lifting to the spirit. Lovely walks in the morning and occassional x-c ski on the weekend or walk to church. Wind was brisk but visited a sight with old boats including this mast covered with hoare frost.   and a repair job unfinished from last year/ If you look closely you will see an igloo on the shore...as on the other side of the hamlet have not been able to visit or go inside. Occassionally get access to one of the vehicles which are shared with the nurses and home care but most often walking. My roomate for a week settled in Canada for many years came originally from Ghana, so I can only imagine what the experience is like of the arctic for the first time.

The only disaster of the week has been when I tried to do a load of laundry at lunch and suddenly found water seeping down the steps! On the rinse cycle every thing was leaking from the bottom of the machine... Egads... used every towel in the place to mop up and a work order in but no one out yet!

About me...

An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
