  • Good news...Bad news

Good news... first I am back in Edmonton...

Bad news...FOG in Iqaluit a 4 hour delay in the small twin otter getting out to Kimmirut was to have left at 1015 AM and not until 315 PM and fears I would not make the Edmonton connection 4:30 PM and had Folkfest tickets to Sarah McLaughlin.

Good news..... spent a morning walking the dog, taking photos and sleeping on a hot rock above the airport (saves checking hourly ..you either hear the plane or not and/or observe the taxis, first air staff and other traveler return to the airport)... Lovely marked pathways final look at water lake.. was actually quite quiet Self portrait attempts at park entrance cannot always see background objects Memorial at airport Last glimpses of Kimmirut Lovely and sunny in Kimmirut  but foggy and cold in iqaluit...spot here near fuel tanks where I often walked with Koda Leaving Kimmirut A few more passengers on the twin Otter than first trip ...just me and the cargo. Flight from Kimmirut to Iqaluit

Bad news... I totally missed spending an afternoon with friend Lorne in Iqaluit....

Good news... made the connection & had 10 minutes in Rankin airport connected with friends that  I housesat last summer, Matt & Cindy Lottes and “baby to be”...she is pregnant in November and arrived back in Edmonton with no lost luggage & whale meat still frozen to be picked up by Robert at 10 PM

About me...

An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
