  • Now vehicle less…

Here are some of my events in the past week…. picking raspberries and cherries as part of a new Edmonton group, OFRE, sharing excess fruit equally with the owner, the food bank and pickers. Overgrown flowers and lush raspberries and one guard cat ….my dogs stayed tied up. Went down for one evening at the Fringe festival on Sunday and here they are snuggled outside the beer tent. Somewhere in our biking Dysis came up with an “eau de skunk” so she was off the groomers today.

Well my vehicle is toast and I haven’t figured out what I am doing next, other than bussing and biking. It is not as if I haven’t been in the situation before as spend three summers vehicle less…strikes abit of my independent woman genes as I chose to ride my road bike to work in the west end this morning. Did the river valley scenic route over an hour each way. The return down Mac Kinnon ravine towards Groat bridge was lovely gliding down about 5 PM. This is the Edmonton Queen river boat and the Peace Mile statue on Conners Hill. My legs are feeling the ups and downs and a gel bike seat cover is definitely needed.

  • are your handlebars upsidedown?  just to let you know, i wouldn't ride a bike with you, if you had your handlebars like that ;)

welcome to my life, bike commuter!  it is glorious.  and, don't worry, even without a gelseat, it gets more comfortable.  it just takes a while.  maybe you should just buy a good quality bike, and a "dog trailer" and forget about a car all together.  you would be classified as "green"  and concerned for the environment ;)

About me...

An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
