Last year at this time, I was in Hall Beach Nunavut and experiencing blizzards,
quite a contrast to the mild winter we are having in Alberta.
Recently I have been sorting and setting up a sewing room in my basement and was puzzling over where my sharp scissors and some other sewing supplies might be. The " AH-HA " moment said check the Nunavut box. A blue large rubber maid container in which basic supplies are stored for travelling back and forth between Nunavut and home in Alberta sits under near my kitchen table. Yes I found my sewing supplles but amazed at the number of " lost " items I discovered by routing through the box marked Nunavut...small tripod, extra iron, sewing bag with felt, beads, scizzors, embroidery thread, wind pants, nanopod, caribou antler, wall hangings, qiniq modem, answering machine, mitt and mukluk patterns etc.
A recent offer for work in the Yukon came from Whitehorse, looking for a social worker in a small community of ... primary concern is the ability to be a generalist....CP, income support and probation in small communities of 200-300 pop. I was really excited about possibilities and could even take dogs. They were needing someone in March-June However. this is too soon for me as I have my 16 yr old gr.daughter living with me ( Gr.11 ) until at least June. Will see what the summer brings. Hard decision saying NO right now!
