That is not to say last night, that as with the rest of this country, I was not following the results of the American elections....did so over the CBC live feeds and alot of status updates being exchanged in facebook with friends who were also watching.....9:07 PM when Obama was declared. Impressed with John McCain's speech conceding the election and very historic moment with the the election of Barak Obama and hopefully a change of direction from the last 8 years.
But my focus this morning is on the " to do " list and some of my writing and insights around it....probably a little more personal sharing than I normally do, but if this is useful to any of the others of you in your own process, well there it is!
November 4, 2008
Same principles as yesterday worked well, in that I was able to get things done but also maintain my own centerness and energy level.
November is a month of remembrances for me as it marks both the deaths and births of significant others in my family, & also have two friends that are seriously ill so how do I respond positively in all this!
• Do the higher priority items first so that I will not feel rushed later when there is less time
• Be aware of energy levels & physical needs e.g. sleep, so nap, massage, do not overbook time.
• Be aware of need to be quiet, calm the thoughts, emotions and mind
• In the calmness respond to, do not create extra.
So some of the items I will do today are:
• Be patient with dogs but walk them in ravine
• MP weekend: Call, confirm #s, workshop choices & notifying club & leaders
• Call HT…info re: memorial bouquets…make decision
• Do some sorting of desk and kitchen table
• What bills can be paid?
• Balance cheque books
• Buy stamps
• Some yard clean up
• Houseplant in blue pot
• Other things re: friends, family
November 5, 2008
Same principles as yesterday BUT the 45 minutes on the yard turned into 4 hours of yard clean up including fire pit,
compost and garage sort.
The positives in this are that snow is predicted for today; it is not likely a task the would be done until spring,
space available,
skis and shovels located
BUT negatives were time....time involved not doing other tasks.…did I really need to spray wash the garage floor only to track it up again!
and so on to the list again with my first clients arriving at 1 PM.

My recent posts..
About me...
An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
