An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.

I saw this on the news! My son graduated from Trent University where he met his wife, and they now have a daughter. He graduated this year from Trent Teachers' College. We went to the Convocation...... We live in Peterborough! This is so awesome! 8)
@sixcie1 - I agree, the drop out rate is fairly high in high school, but those youth who graduate from high and go beyond, we need more. Am glad the media picked up on it. Courage and determination I am sure were needed on his 8 year process..different language, culture and away from small home community.
Beautiful girls.
@styx_site - These girls were 10 and 11 and spontaneously showed me how they did throat singing together.
This a beautiful photo. A very nicely caught portrait.
