All  of the ingredients for a great break from Alberta snow the last few days in Davis California with friends..
    Spring flowers, backyard pool,
bike paths and visiting cat, exploring cemetaries  and wonder about the history & stories of the area.  On Saturday helped with 45 cases done of 2010 vintage from oak barrels & need to sit at least another year in the bottles! Sunday drove up to Napa valley for both champagne tasting and excellant brunch.Love the drplets here on the roses

  • It looks like a wonderful weekend in wine country -- Napa was one of my favorite places to go when I lived in Sacramento!

  • Thanks, it was a lovely holiday especially with my friend and family who does his own wine and quite an educational process, one fall we drove up to Napa to get over 500 ibs of Syrah grapes and destemming them. The Sacramento airport is small and easy to get through BUTyesterday 4 hours in the Sacramento airport and flight cancelled due to
mechanical difficulties and missed connection in San Fran...so tried
the whole thing again this morning leaving friend's place at 4 A. back in Alberta but NOT alot sleep.

About me...

An Albertan & Canadian, definitely a northern gal. Social worker by profession, this blog has included some of my work over 10 years in Nunavut from 2002 on. Passionate about slowing down & taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors or kindness in relationships as gifts & blessings; injustices against children in situations beyond their control; my faith; Nature, experiencing the outdoors whether cycling, walking. x-c skiing or gardening, my dogs, capturing on film God's beauty, experiencing life intensely & with the senses, richness of late afternoon light, wind in my hair cycling with my dog on a beach road, couching inches from an arctic flower or alpine lichen to capture it with my camera, insight of a student's new learning, a good conversation over a coffee.
