Despite nippy fingers waiting in line for the torch run, batteries needing changing...this is one of a few shots got tonight I like....sponsors of course, for the Winter 1010 Olympics!
Here are the balance of my shots which have some interesting effects considering the above difficulties, of our foray out along the route to watch the run, standing for about half an hour.
All in all there were over 50 torch bearers in the run in Edmonton.
The spot we chose was in about the middle at 5:30 PM, Gateway Blvd and 86 Ave. The temp was minus 8oC and the sun was just past setting.
Roads were closed in sections and as the mid time of rush hour traffic some driver often found them selves being cheered.
The city police and RCMP often preceded the runners
and the Coke people gave out souveniers
...even our local MP and leader of the the NDP party were out shaking hands and encouraging " Go Canada Go! "
When the young runner arrived and changed bearers
it was done very quickly and then the torch proceeded
through the river valley and down town where a larger celebration and lighting of the city cauldron took place about 6 PM
The blurriness of some of the photos gives an appropriate sense of motion I think....
